Dog Training Services
Regardless of where you are in your journey with your dog, I can help you make the most out of this special relationship.
Basic Dog Training
Set up a learning structure that you’ll use for the entire course of your dog’s life! In Basic Dog Training, your dog will learn to listen to your direction, focus on cues, socialize with dogs and people, and respond to basic obedience commands.
Basic Dog Training is the place to start as the prerequisite for all good social behavior and any more advanced training you may wish to do in the future. You will see improvements starting from the very first session.
My Basic Dog Training program is structured to fit your individual lifestyle, pocketbook, and schedule while providing the fundamentals your dog needs.
Recommended: One initial consultation, followed by my recommendation for the number of sessions that I believe will best benefit your dog, based on our conversation and what I’ve observed. These are typically packages of 3-6 sessions.
Some of the Commands and Lessons We’ll Cover in Basic Dog Training

You can book a series package or begin with a single consultation. Either way, I’ll help you structure a program that meets your personal requirements and addresses your dog’s needs.
DOG BEHAVIOR ISSUES
Sometimes, even the best-behaved dog acts badly – and often, this behavior seems to come “out of the blue.” But behavior never occurs in a vacuum. There are always contributing factors triggered by some outside event(s) or stimuli.
As a trained, Certified Canine and Feline Behavior Counselor working professionally with all kinds of dogs since 2001, I can recognize and sort out what’s really going on.
With your input and through my observation and analysis, I’ll customize a series of intervention techniques designed for your specific situation. Then I’ll guide you through step-by-step instructions so you’ll learn how to comfortably and effectively redirect your dog’s actions and reactions, helping him or her feel less agitated or stressed.
While behavior problems can be difficult to overcome, I can teach you effective methods that you will be able to use over time while working with your dog. Troubled behaviors rarely just disappear, so don’t wait to address them!
Recommended: One 90-minute initial in-person consultation. At the end of our meeting, your dog’s behavior issues usually include suggestions to get you started immediately. Recommendations can vary greatly, depending upon your dog’s behaviors. I will tailor a plan based on your specific situation.
Some of the Lessons We’ll Cover in Behavior Issues
Separation Anxiety
Leash Aggressive (lunges at dogs, children, joggers, bikes, skateboards, etc.)
Excessive Barking
Food or Toy Aggression
Inappropriate Urination and Defecation
Biting
Destructive Chewing
Jumping Up on People and Furniture
Fear Aggression (toward people, places, things)

NEW BABY & YOUR DOG
With the arrival of a new baby, life as you know it will be changed for everyone in your household, including your dog.
Your attention will be occupied as it never was before. There will be new smells, new sounds, new routines, and likely, new priorities. Your dog may become confused, fearful, agitated, upset, or simply interested. But in any case, he or she will need to understand and learn what the new rules are and what is expected.
Easing your dog into this transition before the baby arrives is a wise thing to do. It ensures less anxiety all around, avoiding troublesome reactions and offering everyone the opportunity to get used to the new organization in daily life. Dogs adjust more quickly to new situations when they are introduced to them gradually, so it’s a good idea to ease your dog into this new arrangement and help minimize an already stressful situation.
A dog that understands the rules is much safer and happier. If your dog is not well trained, don’t wait. Get started as early as possible. If your dog is trained but doesn’t always listen, consider a refresher series or consultation.
Recommended: One initial consultation, after which I will recommend the number of sessions I believe would be most beneficial for your dog (typically 3-6).

ADVANCED DOG TRAINING
Advanced training increases your dog’s ability to respond to you regardless of distractions in any indoor or outdoor environment or situation.
The course begins with a review of your dog’s basic training skills and then concentrates on correcting any problem areas. Once these are handled, I teach you how to increase your dog’s focus and response to you, using real-life situations that include the disruptions, interruptions, noise, and interference that everyday city living presents.
During our sessions, no matter the circumstances in the immediate environment, your dog will learn to listen and respond to your commands, becoming better at filtering out distractions.
With practice, you will see her/him become more comfortable with street noise and activity and less concerned about the approach of dogs and strangers.
Recommended: One initial consultation, followed by my recommendation for the number of sessions that I believe will best benefit your dog, based on our conversation and what I’ve observed. These are typically packages of 3-6 sessions.

ABOUT VIRTUAL TRAINING
Virtual Training sessions are a great alternative if we can’t meet in person. Online appointments can provide a safe way to address your dog’s training and behavior issues – but I will do training this way with you, only if I think that you and your dog(s) will benefit in this situation.
My virtual sessions are 90 minutes long, and include a follow-up 15 minute telephone consultation. (Note that these follow up consults are valid up to 4 months after the initial consultation). I will also respond to a limited number of emails during this period.
Whether it be distance, health concerns surrounding in-person visits, or other circumstances, I respect and aim to address everyone’s needs (both yours and your animal’s).
Contact me and we can discuss virtual options together to see what might work for you.
Pricing for Dog Training Services
Single Animal Households*
Prices are for private training sessions at your home or office in Manhattan (or within 30 minutes travel time via public transit). For locations more than 30 minutes from Manhattan, I am available for virtual training (if appropriate). For more details, please ask.
When scheduling a series of sessions, I recommend scheduling at least two sessions per month. Longer breaks between sessions will limit effectiveness.
* Prices are for single-animal households. For multi-animal households, there may be an additional charge if your other animal(s) also need basic training or help with behavioral issues (such as learning to get along with each other). In these cases, the initial session can last up to two hours. Please contact me to discuss your particular situation.
